Who Are We
Pre-K Preparatory Learning Academy, Inc. is a private faith based non-profit 501©3 organization. We are dedicated to providing a warm, nurturing, and safe learning environment.

We offer
- Early learning and care (six weeks to five years of age)
- Extended care-before and after school, teacher workday, spring break, summer enrichment (six to twelve years of age)
- Tutoring services (K-6th grade)
- Drop-in care (six weeks to twelve years of age)
- Family Development services (parenting seminars, health and wellness workshops, fitness programs, and counseling)
- Positive learning environment for your child
Our core values are faith, family, and education.

As Dr. King asserted, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.”

Our key team members are master teachers, gifted teachers, curriculum specialists, school leaders and administrators who possess over six decades (combined) of experience in education.

Pre-K Preparatory Learning Academy, Inc. prepares young children to excel academically in kindergarten and also cultivates Christian values and character qualities (e.g. integrity, respect, honesty, and self-discipline).

Meet Our Owner / Director
Arbendette Van

My name is Arbendette Van.

I graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 1988, I majored in Child Development and Family Ecology.

I have 10 sisters and brothers, therefore I have been helping to raise children and mothering children for as long as I can remember.

I have spent time as an Infant and Toddler teacher, a preschool teacher, and a director.

I opened Pre-K Preparatory Learning Academy Inc. after spending over 20 years in Corporate America.

I am always taking some class to sharpen my skills and stay relevant in this ever changing Child Care industry.

There is absolutely nothing comparable to working with young people, watching them grow and evolve is so rewarding to me, which is one of the reasons I have chosen to be an on-site Owner/Director.

I get so much joy working with your children, they are at an age where everything is an adventure and I love providing it for them.

Our center has a great deal of diversity, we believe in celebrating all people. At our center the children will experience people from all different countries as they join our daycare family. One of my goals is to make a positive difference in every child and their family. Our center is here to serve the whole family, we want to get to know you and we want you to get to know us, yes, even in the face of Covid-19, our goal is to connect with you.
